Project Summary

The project partners are IT Power Ltd. UK and IT Power India Pvt. Ltd., supported by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), UK.

The project aims at strengthening the capacity of the Finance and Risk insurance sectors in India to extend finance for CDM projects and to help facilitate the smooth development of CDM projects across the country. This website will dessiminate the project findings and guide the Indian financial institutions on CDM finance, thus resulting in accelerated uptake and implementation of CDM projects in India. The specific objectives are to:

1. Increase awareness and acceptance of CDM opportunities within the Indian Finance and Insurance sectors.
   
   
2. Identify and recommend practical solutions to the various barriers and constraints faced by the Indian financial and insurance companies in financing CDM related projects.
   
   
3. Address the capacity building needs and support required by the Indian Financial and Insurance companies so as to increase their presence in CDM financing.
   

The expected outputs from the project are:

1. Reports on issues pertaining to CDM financing in the Indian financial and insurance sector including an assessment of the barriers and constraints, and a list of recommendations.
   
   
2. An indicative business model for financial institutions in order to facilitate access to financing CDM projects.
   
   
3. An indicative business model for insurance companies to provide risk cover for CDM projects.
   
   
4. A computer based pre-feasibility model for evaluating the attractiveness of CDM projects for financing.
   
   
5. CDM case studies evaluated on the basis of a computer adapted pre-feasibility model.
   
   
6. Dissemination of project findings.
